For Patients
|
Your first appointment will be a complete periodontal evaluation. If your dentist is making the referral, he or she will specify the reason for the consultation. Be sure to bring your completed medical history, including a list of any medications. We have a high resolution, low exposure digital X-ray machine to take the necessary radiographs. (It is not normally necessary to bring X-rays from your general dentist.) The state of your teeth and gums will be carefully checked, with emphasis on the primary area of concern. A diagnosis will be made, and a complete explanation of your condition will be given. Treatment options will then be presented, and any questions will be answered by the doctor. Following the evaluation, our office manager will discuss payment options, and any insurance, if applicable. A letter will be sent to the referring dentist regarding the details of your visit.

If you are a patient of record, or if your dentist refers you for an emergency visit, we will make every effort to see you the same day. If emergency treatment is required, it is normally at the end of the business day (after 5pm.) For after hours emergencies, if you are a patient of record, you be given the number of the doctor on call. If you are not a patient of record, please contact a general dentist, or call 911 if it is a serious medical emergency. |

Payment is expected at the time of treatment. We will submit treatment plans to your insurance carrier, and normally will receive a pre-estimate within 4 weeks. Most, but not all, dental insurance companies cover periodontal procedures, up to an annual maximum. Unfortunately, however, most plans do not cover the cost of placing dental implants. (Most plans will, however, help pay for the crown that goes on top of the implant.) Even if insurance doesn't pay what is expected, the patient is ultimately responsible for payment in full. If you have good credit and would like to spread out the payments over 6 months, you may consider our interest free "Care Credit" option. |
